Mayor’s chosen charity
Amber has been chosen as one of the two charities to be supported by the new Mayor of Trowbridge, Councillor John Knight, during his term in office in 2008/9.
Amber Rocks
Celebrities turned out in force to support local charity Amber at a private party in London. Formula One icon Eddie Jordan hosted a private party with Michelin Star chef Marco Pierre White at Frankie’s Bar and Restaurant in Knightsbridge that helped towards raising £500,000 towards a new Amber centre. Celebrities included Damon Hill, Barry McGuigan, Mike Rutherford, Roger Taylor and Nick Mason who all contributed to the evening’s music with Eddie Jordan and his band, The Robbers. Actor Ross Kemp was also a guest.
Marco Pierre White visits
Acclaimed restaurateur, Marco Pierre White, was greeted with a formidable display of projects and talent when he visited Bythesea Lodge recently. He was shown around the centre by Kevin, an Amberteer with a deep love of fishing, a passion that Marco shares. The visit ended with a question and answer session and Amberteers were greatly inspired by Marco’s thoughts on success and what he values in life. Marco and Eddie Jordan are hosting a “Rock’n’Roll Lock-in” private party event at Frankie’s Italian Bar and Grill in Knightsbridge in May to raise money for Amber.
Royal Visit for Amber
The Earl of Wessex visited Bythesea Lodge to meet Amberteers and see the work of Amber. Prince Edward saw the residential accommodation and a number of workshops prepared by the Amberteers that included IT, art, music and education and a group from Ashley Court came to perform a powerful drama written by themselves about how drugs, crime and peer pressure can draw young people down the wrong road if they are nor strong enough to resisit them. He also met two Amberteers who had just secured new jobs after completing work placements.
