Life before I went to amber was very up and down, I would have good days and bad days, always doing petty crime like shop lifting and theft just to make money to get drugs. It was a very poor and dull way of life.
I went to Amber I had nothing with me but the clothes on my back. The first few months were hard for me because I always looked back at my old life and sort of missed it but after a few weeks I started doing the activities such as the kick boxing championships, the dragon boat race, voluntary work in Bulgaria and not to forget the making of Farm Place. While at Farm Place I started looking at my options and realised I really wanted to work with kids so I began a search for jobs and would you believe it, I found one for an apprentice instructor for an outdoor activity organisation.
A year after joining Amber I was on my way to my induction with the organisation and a couple of weeks later I was sent to their activity centre where I am today and I can’t explain how good life is, it’s like I’ve been given a second chance.
Amber has done so much for me, it never gave up on me and for that alone I’ll always be grateful – I would like to think though, that I have left my mark on Amber!
